Effective method stimulating production in a water bore depends on quality and effectiveness of the perforations as clean, well placed and effective Marastim gun process can be used in prior to bore emplacement or during bore development. Employs a cylindrical sleeve of high energy gas generating propellant Run down on wireline and positioned opposite the treatment interval

The perforating shot is released and as it perforates the propellant sleeve it ignites the propellant generating high pressure carbon dioxide gas, the charge carries on through the casing and the cement into the formation creating a perforation tunnel. As the pressure of the gas increases it enters the formation pore spaces through the perforation and pressurises the rock. 

When the pressure load of the gas exceeds rocks tensile strength fracturing is initiated. The fractures will continue growing in all perforations until the propellant is burned and the pressure in the formation has depleted below the fraction extension pressure. Fine gravel pack is released during the detonation event and as they are forced into fractured zones the fractures then remain supported enabling water bearing zones to remain transmissive. With the propellant burn completed the gas pressure in the wellboard dissipates and surges out of the formation carrying solids and perforating fines with it that might otherwise plug or restrict flow through the newly formed fractures.
